Does anyone know the frequency used by the (DHS) Federal Protective Service, (former GSA Police) in the Chattanooga area. Looking at their vehicle today, the sole antenna is a 1/4 wave for the federal 406-420 MHz band. I have been listening to the most common frequencies for them, and have heard nothing. The frequencies listed to are:

406.200000
406.700000
407.000000
408.200000
409.400000
410.800000
411.037500
411.275000
412.400000
413.475000
413.875000
413.950000
414.475000
415.200000
417.200000
417.250000
417.425000
417.650000
418.075000
419.150000
419.650000

All P25. Any ideas?

Yes P25 - Nashville was using 410.8000 $201

Best time to listen would be shift-changes, for radio checks

FPS Chattanooga

Thanks Bill

Have heard them there when in Nashville. But being 125 miles apart with Monteagle Mountain between the 2 cities, I can't hear the Nashville frequency in CHA.

Usually it will be the same Freq for an entire Region. Keep listening and searching, your bound to find them

ie: All of New England is 408.2000 $201

The FPS really doesn't do that much these days. They typically have one person in a Metro area. They are part of DHS/HSI now for some strange reason. There is one rep here and I'm not sure what he actually does. They may have something to do with hiring the contract guards who handle the exterior of federal buildings. The inside contractors are hired by the US Marshal's Service. I know they only have one person in LIttle Rock also. YMMV.

Here in Indy, we have several on duty at the Federal Building, and they have 3 marked patrol vehicles, 2 SUV's, and a Charger. Mostly see the SUV's. They also have a foot patrol, and man the guard shacks. They do also assist in security at the Federal Courthouse.

YMMV but here in New England they are very present. Especially in a city with major Federal (Not Court House where the USM will operate) Buildings.

They even provide extra coverage at the US Courts

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (BREW; Opera Mini/6.0.3/27.2338; U; en) Presto/2.8.119 320X240 LG VN530)

I frequently hear, especially the K-9 unit, go out at the Federal courthouse in downtown Phoenix. I've also heard them out at a few other locations. Including when they stop to fuel up enroute to or from their posting/patrol area.
Mostly active at dawn with shift beginning, and randomly into mid-morning with the various checks of various addresses.
I've never specifically and solely monitored/recorded them throughout the day, although I'd like to at some point. I don't have the means to do so right now.
One point, I don't recall ever hearing them running checks on subjects or license plates. I'm not sure if they do them over the air, or only via computer. I don't believe I've ever even heard them advise Denver that they're out with anyone, like you'd hear almost any other LEO do.

I have heard them only once run a plate on air, then they were advised go secure, and everything was encrypted for next couple of minutes. Heard them once also advise they were out with such and such vehicle, plate no. XXXYYY, assisting motorist get vehicle out of snow on curb. (Apparently a slide off into the plowed pile on curb?) During the Superbowl, they were a lot more active, though so was every agency in the alphabet soup of LEA'.....
