I have 417.2000 and also 408.2000 programmed in my scanner and I 'ge yet to hear anything on either channel. I see a federal protective service patrol car almost every day and I know it has a radio because I see uhf antennas on the trunk and also the roof. Any suggestions as to why I am not getting anything on either? Is it that I am too far away from the closest repeather site?

FPS in Phoenix uses 409.4000 (input 418.4000) Try searching the band 406-420 MHz (esp below 412 MHz.) The FPS here has few transmissions, and far between. Other areas may be more, or less active. Good luck.

Because they don't do much. They are glorified security guards and arent hopping from call to call like local cops are.

I read elsewhere that most FPS officers are now more like uniformed Inspectors, instead of patrol officers, although in some larger metro areas you will find some patrol officers, who didn't want the 'promotion'.

FPS Freqs.

The FPS has a field office in Little Rock, Arkansas and I catch a little activity on 410.8 and 418.4. The way these guys drive, my guess is that they can't talk on the radio and drive at the same time. Here, we don't consider them flattering to LEOs in general. Maybe they're just learning. But try those freqs. and good luck.
