• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value.     To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello all,

Does anyone know if it's possible to load customized alert tones into the Informer tone receiver? I can't see anything in the directory on the computer that allows it, unless there's a way to hack it by opening the unit. Basically what I'm trying to accomplish is for the speaker to open up as soon as it decodes the tones, but as it stands the speaker opens after the full 3-seconds of the 2nd tone is received even tho I have it set for only .25 seconds, I'm trying to use the actual broadcast tone to open the speaker instead of one of their annoying warble tones & what-not. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Have you tried setting "AUDIBLE ALARM TIME" = 0?

wasn't there also an "NONE" option for alert tone?

I have it set at 0. I believe I figured out the issue. I had an out-of-date software (I just bought this thing) that was like 10 years old. I wrote Federal Signal & their Tech Support eMailed me the newest software upgrade they had and it seems to work how I want it to now. But I’ll test for a few days to make sure before I close this thread.
