On several sites, I've found frequencies listed as being designated "FEMA WARN 1," - 165.6625........"FEMA WARN 2" - 164.8625........ and then 3 freqs for "FEMA EOC Net" - 167.975, 169.875, 167.925. Also FEMA "Nationwide Prime" - 138.225. Anyone know (Nathan, perhaps?) if these are installed in the Maryland area for use in a disaster?

Several websites have these freqs, along w/ info on policies pertaining to interoperability......and also list the many freqs on VHF/UHF that apparently can be utilized (presumably by trucking in mobile repeaters, portables) in a major event - the so called "SHARES" freqs. Interesting stuff. Also interesting that in FL, a number of "SHARES" freqs that actually were utilized during the recent events, are not in the standard national list of some 30 or so freqs. I suppose we'll hear more on SHARES in the future.

Thanks.

Actually, I think I've heard some encrypted comms over a couple of these FEMA links. Usually the comms have been short and I miss some of it. But one time there was a lengthy broadcast witht he disctinctive tone at the end of each burst.

Could it be possible FEMA is encrypting just their internal comms? Or were these freqs never intended for interagency communications?

Good question. The last time the FEMA was in the MD area, did anyone out there happen to copy any comms in the clear on any of the published/known VHF frequencies? Related topic...anyone monitor the HF freqs for FEMA and hearing anything? From what I've seen on various sites and from what Nathan has said, it seems there are many freqs on various bands - so determining which freqs are used and when/how might be a real challenge.

Also Dave alot of these Frequencies can be used or utilized as a Temporary Repeater Systems set up by the MATTS Vehicles when they arrive in the area. It all depends on what is needed at the Time.

From what I understand The FEMA MATTS vehicles set up in this order.
1st HF Communications
2nd VHF, UHF, Other Radio's
3rd Landline Telephone if they can
4th Satalite and Microwave Links & Comms
