I was at the Rams training camp on 07-31-06 when I heard planes off in the distance. So I pointed the camera over that way and zoomed in. Just posting for other mil-plane buffs to see.

sorry, having trouble getting pic on the post.

It looks like your very own F-15C from Lambert Field. Missouri ANG. Nice pic by the way.
I wish we had those in Tennessee. C-130's are boring.

BRAC is slated to move the F-15s from the 131st Fighter Wing ( I think they fly something like 15 or 18 of them) out to Nellis. Obviously this is not setting to well with many in state government and I think the State Attorney General had even planned to file suit to stop them from moving the aircraft or some such ridiculousness. They did manage to get some of the personnel transferred out to Whiteman I think and some other personnel from Lambert are slated to go over to Scott. I had hoped they'd transition to F-22s at Lambert.

Hi Jeffery,

Very nice pictures.

If your image is stored on the PC as jpg, you can click reply, then scroll down below that window and click Manage Attachments>Browse to>select jpg then click upload as in this example.

In the late 50's, I was an RBN in the AC with GD on the tail, which was an all weather radar attack bomber. That AC was soon replaced by the A-6 Intruder. The GE "Guppy" was the navies carrier AWACS of the day and replaced by the current E2. Both AC's in the pic are on the AD5 "Able Dog" Skyraider airframe made by Douglas with the R-3350 Engine which has two radial banks of 9 cylinders each. The engine was supercharged with three blowers - each centered at 120 degrees around the radial. In early '58, both squadrons were "kicked" out of Atlantic City (they wanted to build casinos and thought the planes were to noisy) and moved to Quonset Point NAS south of Providence RI on the "Gansett". My squadron also flew a "Jammer" version on the same airframe which was replaced by the EA-6, still in use today.

Thanks!

Hello Frank,

I'm slowly learning how to do these forms. I think I did to many steps for my pics. Couldn't find a lot of detailed info on how to. I hope to get it right for the T-Birds pics.

Thanks again...., Wish I could get some pics that close. Looks great!

I think they were probably going down to the Lindbergh MOAs. They've been operating down there I think. I haven't been able to hear much as I haven't been recording and I've been in and out of the house but I've heard F-15s coming out of St. Louis and it sounded like they were setting up for the Lindberg/Salem/Truman MOAs. Way down south (relative to me anyway). I think some F-16s from Springfield or Des Moines may have made it down there too or to the Cannon MOA or they may have just been down in the Pruitt B. Sounded south in any case.

What is the callsign the Eagle's use for the 131st? And I think it will be a long time (if ever) before the ANG recieves F-22's. There isn't going to be that many of them. I was hoping some of the current USAF F-15's would transition to the ANG. Of course we wouldn't get any in TN.

As for callsigns they use BUD, MISTY, MIC (pronounced as mick as in michelob I suppose) MUDDY. I think I remember BUSCH being used before. That's all I can remember off the top of my head and I don't have my callsign list on this computer.

As with much of mil-air you will need to look at your local ATC freqs for the area. Again I don't have my lists on this computer. Some others are 252.525 is one I remember off the top of my head though 240.150 and 139.950. I'm pulling those out of my hazy noggin' though so don't take them as authoritative.

I don't have many of them tagged on my radios either. I ran through one bank as I was sitting here and saw 269.225 I have tagged as “Lind. MOA”.

My laptop is off getting it's display replaced. When it comes back I'll see if I can dig some others up if no one else pops up with some good freqs for the guys from St. Louis.

Thanks Hostile, Sorry to hear about the laptop display. I hope it was a warranty repair, since I have heard those are $$$$. Or at least that is what they say when trying to sell the extended warranties.

Yes thankfully it was under warranty. I shudder to think what this one would cost to replace.

Notebook computers are the extended warranty exceptions. Normally I never buy extended warranties but for laptops I always buy extended warranties and also buy accident protection if it's halfway reasonable. Nothing like having a 800 or 900 dollar display go out a week or two after the original warranty goes out or accidentally breaking it a week or so after you bought your 2500 dollar laptop and finding out the display is half of that cost.
