I finally bit the bullet and bought a scanner.
After months of listening to the broadcast over the internet and feeling lost when the feed was down, I couldn't stand it anymore.

I decided on the trx-1, and had it programmed (a wise decision considering it took me three days to find the volume control). The last scanner I had was a bearcat in 1998. I have much to learn. Soon I will attempt a backup disc when I summon up the courage to do so. In any event..I love this thing!

I look forward to reading any suggestions and learning more from reading the posts in this forum.

Welcome back to the hobby.

A good start is to go to the frequency database for your state/county and use those frequencies to program your scanner, listen for a while, you may notice not all are active; you can delete or just lock out those. To find other active frequencies use the search mode and scan portions of each band.

A good antenna will help to hear the distant stations. If you can install one outside, better yet, and use low-loss coax like RG/6.

Enjoy your TRX-1.
