About six months ago I started looking for a suitable stand for my Eton Elite Executive radio, but nothing really satisfied me, so I made do. Jump ahead to the present, now with a 3D printer in the den I decided to revisit my quest for the "perfect" (to me) radio stand. I found EXACTLY what I needed at the 3D printer site thingverse.com << HERE >>. So I downloaded the .STL file, sliced it and put it on the printer then went to bed. This morning when I got up the stand was all finished and it looks great and is a great fit for the radio.

So, today is a good day and one more thing on my bucket list is completed.

A couple curious questions:
What printer is this from ?
What PLA filament was used ?
My notion is printing some parts that seem unobtainable. Your stand is really cool.
I have been reading the articles in Oct. '22 QST and have a ton of ideas.

I printed this on a Prusa i3 MK3S+ << Available Here >> I bought the assembled, and tested version. I was up and printing within 20 minutes of opening the box. I used Prusament Galaxy Silver PLA.

You can do some really detailed work, for instance this statue...

What blows me away though is it's bridging capabilities, the picture below was taken of a print in progress, it covered the span with no sagging and without the use of supports.

Yeah, for radio hobby use it's a no-brainer. You can print up all kinds of stuff and get near immediate gratification instead of having to wait days for Snail Mail to deliver items.

Perfect, that is the same printer I am eyeing. I will get the kit, assembly is moot for me and save a few bucks.
1 project is an outdoor metalized LNA preamp box. I was going to use a VMC, but this would be faster. and a lot cheaper.
I have a rather old program called 'Art-to-Part' that will output a file that can be converted for 3D.
Last used in 2012, I made a 3D silver dollar slug of the Marlboro man (?) that went into a belt buckle.
Tooled with a Fadal VMC 88. That bridging ability blows them away.

In the middle pic above, with the exception of the radio being offset a little too far left on the stand, dust on the dial and smudges on the display, it's not too bad. :)

What material was used and what's the level of accuracy of the unit? Will definitely look into it.

Yeah, when one uses a flash with a good camera all sorts of things that you didn't see before show up. :)

I used Prusament "Galaxy Silver" PLA on the print with a 2mm level of detail. The printer can go down to .05mm but the prints take too dang long to print at that level of fine of detail.

It's about the nicest 3D stand I've seen, and I like the silver because it's better at hiding dust.

I'm impressed with the printer's accuracy. .05mm is just under .002in and would work well for several ideas I have related to another (small scale) hobby. I haven't bothered doing much research on 3D printers because like most (fairly) new technology, it tends to be expensive, and I just assumed anything capable of that level of printing would be out of my range. I was wrong.. :)

Thanks for posting!
