Finding CTCSS/DCS tone with a 396XT

This has probably been visited in the past, but, sorry, I just can't find it anywhere!
I am looking to discover CTCSS/DCS tone codes on a specific frequency for a specify entity.
I know that I will obviously need to catch a transmission from one of the radios in question, but am not sure how to set up the 396XT to do so.

Program the frequency into a channel. Set the channel to "ANALOG" then set the CTCSS/DCS option to "SEARCH".
