Hello,

Have ProScan working thru the Serial Port. HAVE A SDS 200 (W10 PC)

Want to try to set it up using the LAN Ethernet connection.

Guess i need the IP address of the scanner.

Where do i find it, please ?
I did find the Menu: Show IP's", but I expected to see something like, e.g., 192.168.1.xxx
But i don't.

There is a LAN Mode: Disable

I thought the IP address is hard wired into the Scanner.
Is this true ?

Or, do I first have to wire the Scanner to Router Ethernet cable before it shows ?

Or, should i change (how ?) the Disable next to the LAN Mode ? Or,...?

Thanks,
Bob

IP address is probably determined by DHCP (your router). So plug in the scanner, turn it on.

The router will give an address in the range you expect. Log into the router. You'll find the scanner listed. Match it up to the MAC address to be sure. If possible, reserve or lease the ip address for your scanner, then it will always be the same.

You need to enable the LAN from the menu (choose DHCP if you have a router) - then power cycle the radio.
Upon restarting - the radio will get an IP address and you can view it in the same LAN setup menu

Another thought, take the mac address of the scanner, go to your dhcp server on (probably) your router, configure a reservation for an available IP address in the dhcp scope range and associate it with your scanner's mac address. Now your scanner will get the same ip address every time you power it on.

Reserving an IP address for your scanner based on MAC address is highly recommended. If you use ProScan or any other software to access the scanner, it means you don't have to keep changing the IP address setting.

You can also assign a fixed IP address within the SDS200. There are some downsides to doing it this way, but it works for me.

If you do that, you have to make sure the manually assigned IP address is not in the range used by the DHCP service, or you will have address conflicts--multiple devices with the same address.
