I received a new uniden model 95 today and have been trying to access weather. It comes with preprogramed service search-weather bank. No luck getting any weather freq. I know I live in Montana but I should be able to get weather!. Any suggestions?

Looks like Billings, MT uses 162.550 FM, for example.

Try this also http://www.weather.gov/nwr/ Here is the codes you will need to put into the scanner along with you nearest frequency for alerts in your area http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/byz/pdf/nwr_billings.pdf these here you want to use for alph tags

I use National Weather Radio stations to assess how well one antenna works compared with others. It's a great tool for checking out your radio & antenna in a new house or hotel....
You may need a better antenna than the antenna provided with your scanner. The metal telescoping or short multi-band antennas don't give you the best signal, if listening remotely. Check out the other forums or do a search for "antenna," as needed.
A weather radio (or wx-alert enabled scanner) should be as mandatory, for any home owner or renter, as a smoke/CO detector and a fire extinguisher......IMHO.
