Ok, I’ve been listening to fire traffic for a while. One of the things I’ve always wondered about is the "Par 2" and "Par 3" that they talk about. It seems to be some sort of staging readiness or something. Anyone have any idea?

Thanks!

PAR = Personnel Accountability Report.
The Incident Commander will periodically have all the company officers
count their people to make sure they are all alive and in 1 piece.

Here in the DFW area I haven't heard them use any numbers like that.
They usually just say something like "Engine x has PAR" when the
IC calls for a PAR

From what I have heard around here, each fire truck or ambulance
has a responder board with each persons responder tag attached to it.

The IC collects the responder boards from all the trucks at the scene
so they already know who and how many people are on each truck.

We used to just say "PAR 10-4" when asked on a fireground for PAR.

Something I keep hearing OKCFD use is "RIP" or "RIT" on fire calls.
Anybody know what that is?

RIC (or RIT) is Rapid Intervention Crew (Team)
Their job is to stand outside in full gear and be available to immediately
go in and rescue injured firefighters.
