When i hear the FD dispatched, they always call truck xx,battalion xx and rescue xx(I know what rescue is).I assume the engine is the fire truck number, but not sure.

xx is usually the station they are assigned to. Truck is usually a ladder truck. Battalion is the battalion chief his xx may not be the same as his station number since usually a battalion consists of more than one station. So at Station 10 for an example you may have:
Truck 10
Engine 10
Engine 10-2
Rescue 10
and Battalion 2

but that may or not be the way it is done in your city

Fortunately, GA
In Gwinnett county, engines, trucks, and med units paged via station # for their specific area. The two closest to me are Station 26 (one engine), and Station 14 (engine, truck, and ems unit). Also nearby is Station 24 behind the Mall of GA. They are part of Battalion 3. Only on large fires is the battalion chief called out. Pretty much the same for all other areas I monitor in the north metro area.
