Hello all ~ I've noticed that the "new" trunked digital systems do not transmit the paging tones.

Can anyone tell me why or can it be made to do so? It seems a little confusing since they do transmit other alert type tones.

Because nobody makes a pager that will work on a trunking system and digital systems are notoriously bad for reproducing analog tones.

Ahh yes

The simplest answer. Thanks Mike, flew right over my head. That never even occurred to me but makes perfect sense now.

So I assume those "alert" or "announcement" tones I hear are digital? They don't sound much better. ;)

I have to ask though... they are testing the pager tones with simulcast and then asking members of each department if they are getting them on both systems, to which the replies are yes. Must be they are doing something else that I'm not aware of or there is some other type of confusion going on...?
