I use scanrecorder, and often come back to 2 hours worth of audio. Rather than listening to 2 hours worth of audio to see if your company was dispatched, i wrote a matlab program to detect the fire tones in the wave file and report where in the file the tones where detected. also play 2mins of audio where the tone was detected.
i have it working in matlab right now. i am trying to write one for scilab which is free to download and can do alot of signal processing. future projects can be ctss decode and reading straight from the line-in and only recording when a company fire tone is detected.

email jrihl@yahoo.com and i will give the code for anyone to use.

download scilab at www.scilab.org or google scilab matlab you have to pay for, but is a standard for signal processing.

First one has to download scilab at

http://www.scilab.org/download/stable/scilab-4.0.exe

install the free program on pc

then i will email the code to you. soon i will put all this on a geocities.com page with some instructions on how to use the program and the format the wave file must be in to work. also you will need to know the tones of the station you want.......i am assuming a two tone dispatch system.

Web page made for download of code

All,

i made a very simple webpage which lists detailed instructions on how to set things up and also a text copy of the code to run in scilab.

it really is a neat program, and can save hours of searching for a specific fire company dispatch. Well the instructions explain the rest

go to

http://www.geocities.com/jrihl

again this is a very simple page!!!! but all the info is there
