I just wanted to confirm that the Tone Out feature cannot be run during a normal scan? Similar to the scanner checking for wx warnings?

That is correct - either scanning or in Fire Tone Out, but not both at the same time.

When you think about it, there is some logic. If you are actively scanning, you'll hear the fire dispatching, especially if the dispatch frequency is set up as a priority channel.

In Fire Tone Out, you want to listen to a fire dispatch frequency and hear calls for service being dispatched which are preceded by tones.

What be nice if you have a open monitor for the standby frequency.

I think the scanner can behave like a Minitor, except for one feature.

For the equivalent of Minitor's Monitor, which is "open" listening to all transmissions, then you'd put the scanner in the Hold mode, and scroll to the frequency for fire dispatching.

For the equivalent of Minitor's Selective Call, where the Monitor activates only when the programmed tone group(s) are transmitted, then the scanner should be in Fire Tone Out operation.

Unfortunately the scanner doesn't do Minitor's Silent Scanning, where the Minitor listens to two different fire dispatching frequencies and if the programmed tone groups are transmitted on either of the two frequencies, the scanner alerts.
