Can anyone on here provide me with tone frequencies if I supply a mp3 recording? Or tell me how to do it with Audacity?

McDowell County. I downloaded the archive mp3 file for the Saturday siren test, I messed around with Audacity a little bit and think I may be able to figure it out. At first it was showing me something like 4khz for the first one I tried and I know that ain't right.

I have the McDowell County Tones.

I got them at the fire school last year.

Send me a PM and I will retype them and send them to you.

Thanks

David

Just a couple of things - FTOs should be placed in our wiki so others can find them - they shouldn't go to the database. We have a listing of NC counties here...

North Carolina Counties - The RadioReference Wiki

and for a couple of posters who asked how to use Audacity for measuring tones, there's a PDF file you can download with this info from sites.google.com

https://sites.google.com/site/radioetcetera/FindingTonesWithAudacity.pdf?attredirects=0

Keep in mind that the accuracy of soundcard measurements varies widely - we're not talking about a lab quality instrument here - but it should get you in the ballpark...HTH...Mike
