Uniden 436 is the first scanner I own that is
capable of doing this. I fire the frequency and tones for my county. My question is the feature do I have to put my scanner in standby mode or when the tones are activated does it come over when I am scanning my systems.

One more question what does the delay function do?

Mine alerts when it is scanning as long as it goes to the channel before the transmission is done. If it is stopped on another channel, then the alert may not go off unless the transmission drops and it scans on. Hope that helps.
