(10/07/2006) By Adam Freeman
We have got new information on a Doniphan fire fighter injured in a fire Friday afternoon. The fire burned 30 acres of corn and took about an hour to put out.
The injured fire fighter is 41-year-old Jimmy Schafer, of Doniphan, who is currently at the Saint Elizabeth Burn Center in Lincoln.
He suffered 3rd degree burns on his chest, arms, and hands in the fire.
“It is all volunteer, just like all these firemen,” said Dan Treat. “He is in our thoughts. That is what everybody is thinking about.”
Saturday afternoon in Doniphan, dozens of fire fighters gathered to show their support for Schafer and his family.
