Firefighter Ride To Remember will take place this Saturday September 20th, 2014

It will be a Motorcycle and Fire Apparatus Procession to the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial

The procession starts in Lakewood CO at the Colorado Fallen Firefighter Memorial and travels down the scenic Front Range of the Rockies to Colorado Springs.

State Patrol will pulling escort duties for at least part of this trip.

Traffic should be fun to watch (and listen to) with 200 motorcycles and 30 fire vehicles headed down I-25 in a procession.

It is an awesome sight. The Colorado Springs route is from Chapel Hills Mall up Briargate to Union Blvd to Memorial Park. Scheduled to begin at 12 noon. They use one of the "C" channels.

Since so many out of county units are involved, I'm not sure whether they can be patched into the "C" channels in El Paso Co, so scan the "MAC" channels as well.

DTRS TG-4946 (EPSO C7) has already been busy all day with visitor transportation and local accommodation requests and fulfillment related to the memorial. Last year they were using CSFD-10 (TG-4629) and CSFD Admin (TG-4633).

Since a lot of other firefighters read this as well, Denver Fire Department rigs will be on 8TAC93 for the trip down. Other orphan system users (eg, Arvada, Aurora, Westminster) that do not have a footprint coverage are encouraged as well. The Denver metro repeater should cover them to Monument Hill and the Cheyenne Mountain repeater cover them in southern Douglas and El Paso county.
The Yarnell Hill firefighters will be placed on the wall this year. When other wildland firefighters have been placed on the wall, there have been slurry bombers in missing man formation flyovers during the ceremony. It will be three hours of standing in the sun in Class A uniforms for the ceremony but every person on that wall would gladly trade places with you in a heartbeat. In my 17 years, I have never missed it.

Does anyone have details about the timing and route between the memorial and C-470? We're near Kipling & Bowles and would like to watch them go by. Will they be going down Wadsworth, and any idea what time they plan to leave the memorial? Thanks!

Always goes east on 6th to 25 to Briargate. At the shopping center there, they assemble the rigs from all over the rest of the state and even from some out of state for the final procession. From there Briargate to Union to Pikes Peak. The bikes and fire apparatus park on Pikes Peak on the north side of the park.
On almost every bridge over I25 and 6th ave, rigs from West Metro, Denver, Cunningham, South Metro, Castle Rock, Tri Lakes, Palmer Lake, AFA, Donald Wescott, and many others have their rigs and their crews at attention as the entire entourage goes by.

Colo Springs PD traffic units have already taken over escort coming into the Springs. They are on EPSO C6 (TG-4945).

The fire fighter/family transportation comms for trips between hotel, the memorial, and other locations related to this event are on EPSO C7.

Medical on EPSO C9

Logistics on CSFD-11
