Firmware goes on scanner. Driver goes on pc. You should not need to download firmware on a scanner to install a driver on a PC or laptop.

Is it a port conflict? Did you check Device Manager and see what port the 436 is trying to use?

Just a wild axxx guess here....Mike

Where is the 436 AWOL from? The PC or software are you using?

The less details you give, the longer it will take you to receive help for your problem.
What I meat, by my 436HP being AWOL, is just that I haven't been able to be seen again on the Com Port it is on.

I initially thought that. But they were just fine yesterday. My SDS100 is seen again on the same Com Port that it was on(4). But, I still don't see my 436HP back on Com Port 3.

Did you plug it up to a different USB port on your computer?
Does a search with PROSCAN show a different port?
Com Port 4 shows up, that is what the SDS100 was on to begin with, when the problem first started. I managed to get Com Port 4 re-recognized. By both, the PC, and Proscan. As for Com Port 3, where the 436Hp was connected, I couldn't get that one re-recognized, like I was able to with Com Port 4. So I finally just switched it to Com Port 5. Now it is working again.

If your comport number changed you must have plugged your USB cable for the 436 into a different port on the computer.
It is the same way with Kenwood Programming cables if I use one of the left ports it is 1 or 2 if I use the right port it is 3 in the software the same goes for my Uniden Scanners.

A USB printer will also act like that if you plug it into a different USB port than you installed it on...

Correct, I plugged it into a different port. But I am still curious, why. Com Port 3, could not be re-recognized.
