I was reading another thread, and the individual posting suggested a way to make the FUNC key remain active, by holding it for a set period of time.
How about this:
Press FUNC once (not press and hold)-do whatever you were going to do (hit WX/CC/Pri, etc), and it's off. If you don't do anything, after a finite amount of time (maybe 3-5 seconds) FUNC automatically goes off).
Quickly press FUNC twice (ala the Windows Mouse "Double Click")-FUNC remains on, allowing you to scroll through the systems. This would eliminate the need to hold FUNC down while scrolling. Once you've done what you need to, press FUNC again to turn it off.
My one criticism of the 396T is it's ergonomics when it comes to certain functions. Other than that, this is one great scanner-
