Firmware update for 396

Received my 396 last week and am enjoying it. Tried to load new firmware tonight and the firmware updater says it is the wrong firmware for this scanner. Downloaded it from the Uniden site along with the firmware installer. Anyone have any idea what is going on? Thanks for all the suggestions.

Install Firmware issues

I updated no problems
what steps did you take that led to your demise??
Also try the Guided method,
and make sure the file is unzipped and placed elswhere..
I placed he UNZIPPED file on my desktop and installed from there.

Did everthing as directed but when I hit the download to scanner button it states it is the wrong firmware for this scanner.

You might be using the wrong port. The error messages are pretty limited.

Try port one or four.

I think your not putting it in update mode,

I think it says wrong firmware because your not putting it in update mode. Try without batterys, press and hold LO and 6 as you plug in the ac power the screen will l lightup and be blank then update your scanner.

Wrong comport is the most likely culprit. The error messages are pathetic.

Re Download

Coud be too that file is corrupted..
Dletae the file/s
Re DL everything ans try again...
REPEAT
THe File may be COrrupted
aDlete the FIles and re download....
And try again

sometime when Downloading files can get messd up no matter how good the site is/ was..
it happens.
