I'm not new to scanning but relatively new to RR. It's really sad from what I see that it appears there are about 2-3 users that I'd swear were hired as Uniden "firefighters". It seems that whenever there is ANYTHING negative said about Uniden these same 2-3 users are almost instantly upon the thread, and pounce upon the dissenter with very personal comments. It really seems to me like these people troll the boards 24/7 and attack anyone who has anything negative to say. Almost like an autobot.....

And, if you look at other scanner forums on this site, you never see these people attacking any dissenters there. They don't have any problem with GRE, Whistler or Radio Shack dissenters - their sole beef appears to be restricted to Uniden. What is the word - "fanboys"? Is that it?

Yes, it makes you wonder..

If they are not paid Uniden shills but still hang around R/R almost 24/7 anyway responding to each and every negative comment within minutes and posting thousands of comments (over 6000 in each case), what kind of lives these people must lead.

I'm glad I have a life outside of RadioReference :)

Oh, go play in traffic.. if they'd said "we have a solution for the clock problem but we're going to focus on releasing analyze first", you and your ilk would be pitching a fit about that instead.

I just got back from a trip to an area full of simulcast P25 systems, and I took along my 436, which performed beautifully over 8 days and 800 miles of travel. When I needed to do some analysis? That's what the HP1 and the SDR sticks in my computer bag were for.

If you can't live without one singular feature for just a little longer, perhaps it's time to find another hobby.

This was a recent responce to a comment I made from one of the bots in question.

I'm starting to think that Uniden needs to start paying a slightly higher salary for their shills.

You know what they say "pay peanuts, get.....

Boatanchor,

LOL!!!

Seriously, I'm liking this site a lot and I'm sure I'll learn a lot here, just yesterday a few kind people helped get me out of a USB driver jam with my laptop. But the Uniden firefighters are doing a disservice to this site.

You guys are funny. I mean it. If you want to see a s***storm, go IMPLY that the Whistler units have bugs - ANY bugs at all. You will be confronted with everything from being called a heretic to an idiot to worse. All HINTS of any bugs are met with replies that any suspected bugs can only be user error, and that it's not possible for a Whistler unit to have any bugs even though there are many bug reports on the forums here.

If you think things are bad on the Uniden forums, you haven't seen anything.

Fanboy? You ain't seen nothin' until you've seen a Whistler fanboy. Whistler can do no wrong in their eyes. At least I am a realist. While I do try to explain the difficulties Uniden has (and Whistler for that matter), and why sometimes delivery estimates are not met, at least I don't deny that there are issues or bugs that need addressed.

Overall, I try to help people, and those who thank me far outweigh the number who criticize me for applying logic to a situation. The dongle issue is a perfect example. Most people don't buy that a manufacturer could have delayed the project by 9 months, but those same people have no problem thinking Uniden could have delayed it that long. You know what that says? It says they are haters who only want to believe that all the wrongs in the world are Uniden's fault.

Now, tell me how the above 5 posts help anyone on RR and serve any purpose but to stir up feces? Your posts are doing exactly what you say you don't like. It seems one of your main points is that people like me help Uniden folks more than Whistler folks. Well, I will admit I know much more about the Uniden models, but I have helped GRE/Whistler owners, too. Maybe not as much as you might like, but feel free to go help those people if you can do it better than I can. I saw a thread I knew the answer for on a PSR-800, but when I read the thread the question was already answered, so why post a duplicate answer? If I don't, I'm a Uniden fanboy. If I do, I'm posting just to make a post (and I have stalkers that track my posts). So, I ignore the opinions of others since I'm going to be criticized one way or the other, and post where I think I can help. In short, I ignore the haters... for the most part.

Sorry the site may not be the Uniden trash-fest some want it to be, but if it were it would not last long. That's what kills sites like this.

For the record, I'm the only one Uniden is paying to be here. And, I'm quite open about it, thus not a shill.

Yep, my attempt to try to impart some common sense among those who lack any shred of it is entirely gratis, out of the goodness of my own heart.

IMO they don't pay you enough, I am shocked you read all this garbage. I visit one a week or so and just search the posts you post on to catch up on important stuff. If if wasn't for you on here.. I would never come back.

Same as Jay here. Not paid by Uniden. Just trying to help others in the hobby. Although I will admit a sense of pride when I find the solution to someone's problem. I like troubleshooting.

Something not right. I get over 12 hours on a 668 with Eneloop pro 2450 mAh batteries. What batteries are you using? That Scanner could be defective? I did get one bad one that won't power on correctly I ended up fixing. 8 hours maybe a little over is around what I get with the 436HP, that expected with 3 AA cells.

+1. So far the best feature of my 436 purchase has been UPMan.

Depends what you monitor and the scanner configuration. Using the same cells I can get up to 12 hours out of my 436 or as little as 6.

Now that the 536HP firmware update has been released, hopefully the 436HP update will follow soon.

Uniden is most likely to squash a few bugs in the new 536HP firmware first before working on the 436HP firmware. I've given up all hope for my 436HP getting the features I've paid for and the RTC issue properly fixed. When I run over my 436HP with the car, will make sure I film it for YouTube.

RR Forums has an"IGNORE" option. If others would refrain from quoting the offenders, I would never see their words.

LOL... well to each their own, but if you're going to just destroy it anyway, send it my way - I'll beat it up good for ya! ;) My current 436 is already a battle scarred veteran of my clumsiness, but it's still ticking. I still miss the BC250D's case. Now THAT was an indestructible scanner! What a tank.

I'll give you $100.00 for it. BEFORE you run it over, of course! :p

Seriously, there's no reason to think that they won't apply the P25, RTC, and other fixes to the 436HP. I think that the 536HP took priority, but now that those issues are under control, I don't see why they won't do an update for the 436HP.

It shouldn't take much to port Analyze, the RTC fix (which UPMan has said they'll do for the 436, and the P25 improvements over.

I pay you $250 maybe more if it in close to new condition and pay now. Don't run it over yet.

Being they fix a few bugs on the 536hp, I am pretty sure they will come out with a update for the 436hp, no point in wasting hard earn money running it over, as all you doing is screwing yourself over, as you spent the money on it. May relief some stress, maybe make for a interesting video for anti Uniden people, but that about it.
