I am by no means a Uniden hater, far from it. Since the early 80's the only cordless phones I would ever consider buying were Uniden.

The only issue I've ever had with Uniden is the 436HP. I've owned / sold so many Uniden scanners over the past 30 years. I've come to expect quality products from Uniden due to past performance.

I'm really impressed with the Analyze Features in the 536HP watching YouTube videos. Just don't see these features making it into the 436HP anytime soon, as well as the RTC fail on my 436 HP, I'll just pack the sucker up and forget about it. My 396XT does almost everything I need it to and is IMHO easier to custom program thanks to FreeScan.

After reverting back to the 396XT, I like it better than the 436HP. Yes, there are some 436HP features I'd like in the 396XT, but I can deal with these limitations to have a near perfect scanner otherwise.

That post proves you (general term meaning anyone - not you specifically, XTS) can make a post that is critical without having to resort to blasting.

That said, UPMan said the 436 would be forthcoming, and I think after the 536 update which is out there now, so hopefully it won't be too long before the 436 update hits the street.

My expectation is that the biggest hurdle to overcome now that the 536 firmware is done is reformatting the information to fit the 436 display.

Does my 436 warranty start when I finally have the scanner that I paid for?

Might be more complicated than that. Since it's a portable with different power requirements I would also expect CPU, memory and audio differences.

Could also be they've run into some limitation (memory, cpu) which is making implementation difficult or impossible. It's taking an inordinate amount of time to fix.

I'd have to agree, it's got to be difficult to reformat for a completely different display vs its mobile counterpart.

This is not the case with the older portable/mobile scanners like the 396T/996T as well as the 396XT/996XT. All these scanners have the same display format, just slightly larger for the mobiles. Much easier to port code from mobile to portable or vise versa.

Looks like we will be waiting a longer time for Analyze due to other problems that have recently popped up.

I doubt its an isue of reformatting. I believe it's already been done and been in the radio since day one but not functioning for what ever reason. Remember it was an advertised feature in the radio and I doubt they would release a product without knowing if its going to display properly. That's just more of a fail than it just being late. And if you look at the prototype, they have both the 536 and the 436 lcd screens so im sure they had it set up for both displays.

Upman stated the 436hp rtc analyze firmware went to beta yesterday and public release expected in 1 to 2 weeks.

Upman also said in early March 2014:

BCD436HP First Firmware Update v1.03.00

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This release addresses the issues that were reported to us within the first week of release. I know that a few more were found after that, and we are working on a March release to address additional issues.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm...........................

What delays you talking about?
Developing 2 new releases of scanners? One would think the "Flagship" scanners would take priority. Well, after waitng 1 year, we are still waiting.
The delays were self imposed.
What ever happened to corporate responsibility?

The 1-year delay of waiting for the dongle firmware (anything but self-imposed) and the resulting delays since they received it of the backlight issue and other things that Uniden has worked on in the past 3 months. But, we all know you're just trolling, as you've posted to the threads that discussed these things, so...

It's odd you choose to post a complaint one day after the solution was posted rather than wait to see if the post is true. Maybe you realize you only have a couple weeks to complain, so you want to get it all in before your have nothing left to complain about?

It's also odd that you ignore that Uniden's timeline is near perfect SINCE receiving the firmware. They originally quoted a 3 month delay, and it's been 4 months since they got the delayed firmware. But, they have also had to release firmware for an issue they didn't expect. All in all, they are very close to THEIR quoted schedule. It's a shame some third party delayed their plans by a year.

No trolling here, I started this thread. I will continuously post on this issue until I get the product I paid for 1 year ago.

Uniden is responsible for the entire product and the delays. 3rd party references are meaningless to me.

Well, UPMan said they would have a 536 update out in a couple weeks a few weeks ago. Guess what - it came out about a week ago. Now he is saying that it should be a couple weeks for the 436. I would almost bet money it will be out then. And to keep it in context, he DID qualify that with "as long as no serious bugs are found" (or words to that effect).

The "bugs" should have been resolved prior to the release of the flagship scanners, 1 year ago. Let's hope they figure it out.
They have been working on it for a long time.

What "Voyager" and the other Uniden mouthpieces conveniently skirt is the simple fact that these products should have never been released with advertised, non-functional features and poor performance. With that kind of history, why should we believe anything Uniden or its mouthpieces have to say?

When the firmware patch is out what exactly will it do with the clock? If a unit has a bad battery will the time stamps simply be eliminated? If so how do you manage recordings?
