First Post! Hi all! Clear Existing Data from Scanner?

Hey everybody -

Glad I found this site and it helps to know there are cool communities here to be able to help everyone with scanner issues...

I have a radio Shack Pro 2051 1000 Channel Scanner.

My question is this, I've been fooling around with the ARC software to program it from my PC, and want to know if it is possible to clear your old Data from the Scanner First before installing any new Frequencies, etc.

I'm pleased to see with what works so far with what I entered.

Want to start with a totally fresh slate, so I'm hoping you folks can help, Thanks!

Here's the info from the owners manual on resetting that scanner:

resetting your scanner
If the scanner’s display locks up or stops operating properly,
you might need to reset the scanner.
This procedure clears all the information you have stored
in the scanner. Before you reset the scanner, try turning
it off and on to see if it begins working properly. Reset
the scanner only when you are sure it is not working
properly.
1. Make sure your scanner is turned off.
2. While holding down 2, 9, and HOLD, turn on the scanner.
After about 2 seconds the scanner initializes and CLEAr
appears.
Follow these steps to restore the 150 preprogrammed
frequencies stored in the private bank.
1. Make sure your scanner is turned off.
2. While holding down 3 and E, turn on the scanner. After
several seconds, the scanner restores the frequencies.

I understand the resetting aspect, but is there any way to Clear the preprogrammed info, or does it just get overwritten when you upload something to it?

Appreciate that, and sorry if I wasn't clearer before on it...

Yes. See post from bama9999 for the answer to the first part. For the second part of your question, yes, data is over written when new data is input
