From the Colo Dept of Public Safety:

A tribute to all public safety first responders will be held tomorrow, SEPT 6, 2014, 12 noon to 12:30 p.m., at the Northfield Mall, 8340 Northfield Blvd., in Denver. A registration desk and stage will be set up at E. 47th and Main St., at the mall.

Denver Safety Executive Director Stephanie O’Malley, Denver Police Chief Robert White and Denver Fire Chief Eric Tade plan to participate in the ceremony. The ceremony will be moderated by former state representative and former University of Colorado regent Paul Schauer.

Along with a formal tribute ceremony beginning at noon is a vintage fire and police car display that will run through the early afternoon.

The tribute is in recognition of all first responders who lost their lives during the terrorist attacks of 9/11. It is sponsored by the Denver Police Law Enforcement Museum and the Denver Firefighters Museum. The two museums have been established to educate the public about the histories of law enforcement and firefighting in Denver and to encourage young people to consider careers in first responder agencies. Other first responder agencies, including the Colorado State Patrol, plan to participate in the day’s activities.

The event is free and open to the public.

This may become an annual event. Both museums have been looking for joint projects. Hot Times Cool cars was a former firefighter fund raiser but it did not happen this year and is looking for a venue for next year.
