Fixing the 396 silk print problem

Can anyone advise on how long it is taking for the scanner to be repaired and back in the owners hands.....
What is involved in getting the problem resolved.

I sent my scanner in last Thursday, it was fixed and on its way, scheduled for delivery this thursday. I am impressed with there turn around time, I think thay are doing a wonderful job of fixing this problem.

Yeah, but is the silk print issue resolved at this point. On another thread UPMan stated that they would let us know when it was fixed. I have been out of pocket for a few weeks and didn't know if they have actually solved the issue yet. The last thing I want to do is send my scanner in for repair and a month after I get it back the print wear off again.

I'm assuming since this issue that these scanners being shipped now has the silk screen problem resolved as these suppliers stated backordered due to physical external issue.

Uniden customer service

In general i myself am very happy with the customer service uniden provides to ,its customers. I have had two repairs from the factory and very well pleased with them. Uniden keep up the good customer service you provide and again very happy with such.

396 Silkscreen

Whay can't a clear coat be painted (with a small brush) over the letters and keys to prevent the print from wearing off? It seems the end user would be able to do this.

I've read in other posts that people recommend using Future Floor Wax from Wal-Mart to do just as you suggest. So far I'm not that brave, though, with a $500 radio.

Will they still replace it if the scanner has a little wear and tear?

If the case print has worn off of your BCD396T’s front case, Uniden will replace the front case of the scanner under warranty. You can initiate warranty service by e-mailing the following information to BCD396T@uniden.com.

Sent my 396 out last monday aug 15 Uniden recieved it on the 17th
called today to check on the status and the lady had no record of my scanner
said the techs probally have not got to it yet and have not entered it into the system

Uniden Repair/Return of the 396

I just received my 396 back after one week and two days and unfortunately they failed to include the box tray from the original product package. They wrapped the scanner in plastic and placed it loose in the color product box. I've called Customer Support but so far no luch getting the tray back.
What really upsets me about this is their email tells us to return it back to them in the original carton (which I did)...And then they don't return it...
Oh well, it appears the case was replaced and so far no missing printing. I'll keep my fingers crossed...

8/13 Saturday - Handed radio to Kinkos/Fedex
8/15 Monday - FedEx shows radio delivered to Ft. Worth
8/16-18 - Called Daily, Uniden CS doesn't have record of receiving radio
8/18 - Posted note to 396 YahooGroup. Paul Opitz volunteers help.
..it was a bit of a faulty premise on my part, since I got my weeks messed up
and he thought radio was in shop for one extra week than it was.

8/19 Friday - Paul located radio, and said it was completed and would be shipped out on Monday.
8/22 Monday - Received email from Uniden with tracking number. Estimated delivery 8/26.

We'll see what happens.

Checked the website today it says my scanner is in quality control and will ship on 9-7

I checked the Uniden site today and it says my scanner is fixed and on its way to me
It will be here 8-27 i sent it in on th 15th and they recieved it on the 17th
recorded it was in the shop on the 22nd now enroute back to me

Hope this helps if you are wondering how long the repair takes.

I sent mine in on Aug 15 from AZ, it arrived at Uniden on Aug 18 per fedex, I was finally able to get into the check status last night Aug 24 and it showed in quality control it also showed an expected ship date of Sept 8.

I check this morning the 25th and saw that it had been shipped with a fedex tracking number showing it was shipped on the 24th and scheduled delivery is for the 27th, Saturday, so we shall see.
