is possible, but not official. local comms guy may have done it, but not DOF wide.
if anything they are going p25 phase 2, they have nx700's out there but most units
have BK/RELM's.

You think DOF would go to SLERS when it first came out? We shall see what happens down the road.

LOL, they are not going SLERS, they'd rather go VHF P25 if anything, but they prefer analog over anything but SLERS.

Unless they roll out a statewide VHF P25 Phase 2 trunk system on top of the P25 Phase 2 trunk system the state is already rolling out for SLERS then DOF isn't going to P25 Phase 2. DOF has been upgrading their repeaters and radios to P25 one for the longest time, however they are more than likely waiting cordnation with the other state forestry depts in the Southeast Compact before they go completely to P25. This is something that most state forestry depts have been working on for a long time including the USFS. Unless, Phase 2 is a option on conventional mode then I should be correct. If it is then it might be a possibility. Just a thought.

You’re right on the $. They’ll be no phase II vhf, because you can’t do it on conventional. Unlikely they’ll ever go digital fully.

I know I' m in NJ but I know from other states too that to forest and parks services have ACCESS to various state systems, but always keep thjeir VHF equipment to work in other states. There are multi-band radios that make this possible. This isn't going to happen for a long time

I read somewhere a long time ago where Fla. DOF said they'll never leave VHF there 100-watt radios work too well 800 don't work in the woods very well
that was probably close to 15 - 20 yrs ago
