These pictures are of just my scanning gear. My Ham shack is in another room. I was not able to fit all of my equipment in these pics, but pictured are the scanners used for the feeds. I live in a community that has a "No antennas" rule so as you can see... I had to improvise.

That is a nice setup. I hope that E1 is being supported by a bracket of some kind - if it takes a fall I wouldn't want to be the one to pick up the pieces....

Re the antennas - do you have an attic? If you can get one or two antennas up there, fed through a splitter, you'd probably hear a bunch more than what you have now. The additional height will help. The E1 would also benefit from stringing something in the attic. It doesn't have to be fancy...

Even if you could get a scanner antenna as close to an outside wall as you can, you would likely be a little better off. Using a handheld with the shortest duckie you have to sweep the area for a sweet spot (most every apartment or condo has at least 1) would be worthwhile. 73 Mike

No attic unfortunately :( The wall that the antenna back is an exterior wall, so right now I'm afraid its the best I can do. I'm moving in April, so hopefully I'll be able to put up the Diamond DA120 I have and split it to all the scanners. The E1 I usually have in the other room while listening. Its virtually impossible to listen to HF with all the RF noise generated by the 3 PCs. As for the mag mount antenna... you have a good question. I'm sure there are mixed opinions about it. I do, have it mounted on the square metal plate it rests on- thinking that it might help.
