• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

They used to sell a "jumper" of flat coax for Sat TV dishs that was about 16" and had F connectors on either side. Not the best, but a workable solution.

Is this to get cables in a window??? A tried and true method is to get a piece of plexiglass, the width of your window and couple of inches tall...open the window, put the plexi between the bottom of the window and the window frame, close the window down on it, put weathestripping or even tape on the edges, and off you go. Drill holes in the plexi all day long for as many cables as you need.

I use this method right at the window at my desk, shack and except for the coldest of days, I never really know the thing is there..

I used to do the exact same thing with a 2x4 that I painted white to match the window frame. Put a piece of weather stripping on both the top and bottom and it worked great, with no problem keeping the 25 below cold out in the winter...

Try this: Get a board that fits, drill holes down the center of it, enough for your cables and be sure they all line up along the center of the board and now rip the board with a table saw down the center of the holes you drilled. Line one side with weather striping tape, place coax in the holes and put the other half on top, close window and you are done. Now you can remove your cables and replace as needed. If you want room to expand just drill more holes than you need and plug them with wooden dowel sections wrapped in weather strip tape.

is there a way to use "on glass" technology so that inside my apartment, i can hook the little black box on the window up to the scanner, and outside, i could hook the little black box up to a discone antenna.

is that possible? did that just make sense?
