I was in North Bay, Ontario, last week, heard BMR techs (group 16) talking to each other on the FleetNet. Any rumours when North Bay Ambulance and OPP dispatch will kick over to digital ? Thanks.

I presume you heard them on a Zone 1 or 2 site to the south since there have not been any reports of Zone 3 activity (that I know of).

Ambulance and MTO will be analog. OPP will be digital.

Hi Dave. Well I thought about that, but North Bay is a long way
north to be picking up much from Zone 1 or 2. I just thought
that since I heard techs chatting I would mention the "activity".

Hum, you make me wonder where you are Dave. I thought it
was common knowledge that there will be 5 Ministries on the
Ontario Fleetnet system. In fact, Georgian Ambulance dispatch
is already on it, and Kingston Ambulance dispatch is set to
change over in Feb/March 2005. AND....MTO has already
changed over in Zone 2. Just where are you Dave, and
where are you getting your information ?

Actually only MTO Enforcement Units have switched over. All road/highway maintenance operations, (atleast in my area, not sure about the far east part) are still using the regular conventional channels. Loud an clear.

Dave, is the roads/highway crews still using the conventional stuff down your way?

Hey Ontario S N where are you from. Down here in my neck of the woods, i heard the road crews on the Fleetnet system. Not very much mind you but ive heard them a few times. MOH is another story there still on the coventional VHF channels, which is fine with me, by all means, because Windsor AmB volume is very low i find. Maybe if i was closer to that city, it would be lowder.

Zone 2 ends somewhat south and east of North Bay. However, with an external antenna I can hear Zone 2 Site 12 (Mount St. Patrick) which is about the same map distance between Huntsville (which is in Zone 2) and N.Bay. So you might be able to hear Zone 2, even with normal propogation.

No oops. This will be true when Zone 3 comes online. I am aware of the status on Zone 1/2. MTO Enforcement will be digital, regular operations analog, and I have not heard anything about Corrections, who are still on VHF/UHF conventional.

As of several weeks ago I was still hearing MTO operations on the regular channel 143.940 so I don't think Zone 2 has switched over. I will check though, it may be happening soon.

I get my info from SCANONT, this board and the TRS Database, plus my own info gathering. Zone 3 (SysID 8230) in the TRSDB currently has no site listings. If you heard Fleetnet in N.Bay could you bring us up to date (control channels, voice channels, site info if you can get it)?
