Fleetnet Zone 4

I tried looking for it, but i cant seem to find the thread i remember someone mentioning when Zone 4 of Fleetnet was coming online. I was wondering moreso for THunder Bay in particular. Anyways, if anyone can help out on that one that would be great, Thanks

I heard the OPP doing an escort yesterday afternoon. They were west of Hearst. They were going west and were advised to switch to Sim 1. Sim 1 as far as I know is only used on the old system as Sim 11 is being used on the new system. I'm in Timmins though, so I can't confirm that for sure for the Thunder Bay area.

Should be switching over to fleetnet this summer sometime from what I have heard.

I'd love to see that happen. Are there even any Zone 4 towers on the air right now? Zone 3 is well under way, but it seems to me that they'd wait until Zone 3 is complete before they begin Zone 4.

I live in Thunder Bay, so i know its still on the NOR system, i was inquiring on when its going to switch since Fleetnet is much better

Looking at the Fleetnet Sticky, zone 3 is to be completed by aug 07, so zone 4 wouldnt be done till after that

I would beg to differ NOR had it's definate disadvantages, but personally speaking - I much prefered it to Fleetnet.

I will be heading to TBay for a visit in 3 weeks. Will check to see if I can pick up some control channels on the way. Back in January I had picked up a control channel in the Pagwa area which wasn't the Frazer tower site.

Well u wont be picking up a Fleetnet tower in T-Bay, lol, since they are still on NOR

just a quick note, during the last year or so the police station in nipigon had a new antenna installed for fleetnet but as far as i know nothing more has happened.

Not quite.

Before they switch off of NOR, the system has to be built. Once built, it has to be tested. To do that, they have to put it on the air.

Therefore, as in the other 3 zones that are already built, you will pickup a Fleetnet tower well before the OPP leave NOR.

Search between 141 and 144 Mhz and see if you find any control channels. Chances are, they belong to a Fleetnet tower.

Near Geraldton C.C. 142.515

still NOR for now anyways...the tower closest to marathon is named 8231h-0004 on 142.4400 and i also believe the terrace bay tower is 142.3200 (might be manitouwadge though)

if anyone thinks it might be useful to collect the freqs that are not listed on the map i can do it on my way to thunder bay this weekend...

SpaceMan - if you're able to get discriminiator audio out of your scanner, running TRUNK88 would provide a lot of useful information such as Neighbour Lists (along with their control channels) and all that jazz.

Would be nice if in the data base it was set up for Zone 4. At least we keep track of the control channels

If Zone 4 isn't in the database yet, then submit it.

If it is in the database, then submit the control channels and possible locations.
