Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I Use a Unication Alpha Elite Flex pager for work and personal pages. I have the programming cradle and software and have made a few changes to customize the pager.

The pager is the same as the Moto Advisor II, i believe.

My question is related to the second line of pages. How does the pager determine where to "put" the pages when they are received. Is it determined by the length of the address?

My personal pages are on the top line of the pager and it alerts when they are received. On the lower line i get the 'Datacast Services' including news, sports, weather, etc. Is it possible to have personal pages show up on the second line if possible where each address can be given its own alert tone.

Anyone have any ideas?

From what I learned when looking to do the same thing, the second row is for news drop addresses which in flex are a specific block of capcodes standard in the system. I don't remember the range of the block but lets say the code of 123456 is used by Datacast - it can be the sports scores capcode no matter what pager system you are on because that cap code is in the news drop range.

Thanks Steve,
Can i "push" anything else to that second row or is that going to be exclusive to that range of capcodes?

I made a point of determining which capcode was for each service (sports=XXXXXX, etc.) and they are all sequential and shorter than the addresses for my personal and group pages. Maybe that's a factor?
