Ok, today (Sunday the 30th) Florence Sheriff is back on 155.580 now again!

Also heard an EMS page on there so I'm guessing they still don't have the 154.040 system fool-proofed yet or it froze.

Also have not heard a peep on Oconto's P25 channel today. Lot of traffic on 155.430 analog however.

TODAY (SUNDAY the 30th) ;-) Oconto County was Simulcast (not sure if thats the correct terminology) on both P25 & Analog. Apparently this only happens when a certain dispatcher is logged in (not the head of the dept. either) They must not have set her user preferences back to the way that they wanted it or something. Interesting how the Sheriff claims that they can not transmit on both P25 Freq. & the Analog Freq. at the same time, when this dispatcher seems to be doing it. Knowing their shifts, I'm sure she will be on until 10pm tonight if anyone is in the area listening.

ah, m'kay... that might explain it. Now as of 6pm, I've got the dispatcher in clear P25 but encrypted mobiles and don't hear her on analog channel now.

That was the point that I tried to get across about a month ago in another thead. During that past trip in early November, they were on 155.580 for Sheriff Op's, not 154.040...

I can receive the 155.580 system at my location west of Green Bay 24/7 with the Cushcraft eleven element beam pointed north, but RARELY can I make out the 154.040 system... even after sunset.

The signal from two counties north in Michigan comes in better here on 154.040 than Florence does... not that there's a bunch going on up there to actually pay attention to... LOL.

From my location about 7 miles east of Amberg http://www.findu.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?call=k9drx-8 , 154.040 activity is generally full scale using a scantenna at about 35 feet and also comes in portable depending on where you set the radio. 155.580 is about 1/3 the signal strength and often flutters with the base so I'm not sure where the issues lie with varying signal strength. I've never seen a problem with 154.040 base or mobile in this area or within Florence Co. What I don't understand is what thier channel usage plan is and why they are always all over the place.

On another regional note, Dickinson's old sheriff repeater 155.310 is now being used by fire & rescue and there is also paging on there that simulcasts on some of the other existing fire freqs depending on the agency. All of the law is on MPSCS.

Maybe you are also hearing Lifestar Ambulance Dispatch on 154.0400 from Washington County.

Izz - It's not anything to my south... the 11 element Cushcraft here has a decent front to back ratio and 13.4 DB gain, so what I am getting, louder than Florence on 154.04, is from someplace in Upper Michigan. I verified this some time ago listening to street names and locations. I was raised near Florence and none of those street names that I hear from Michigan are common to Florence.

Terrain is most likely the issue with me not hearing Florence on 154.04 very well. My topographical map indicates several high ridges between their towers and my beam. I did turn the beam due south from here and was able to get dispatch centers in Illinois ( Cook and Lake Counties) as well as the one you mentioned in Washington County.

I can receive Florence from my mobile on 154.04 when I get north of Laona on US 8 in places and solid from north of Cavour on Highway 139, and also from half way between Wausaukee and Amberg on Highway 141 (terrain again).

Thanks for the possible signal location.
