This thread I think will be helpful for anyone who travels or lives in Florida to know about all the signal dead zones in the area.

Valrico: Valrico Rd & Hwy 60 by Mcdonalds. Once you drive by this road the signal from the tower will back to full strength from the tower.

I agree. I'm using the 800mhz scanner antenna from Radio Shack. :D

Polk County's coverage isn't great, but your stock antenna sure doesn't do much to help the sitcheeayshun. Do yourself a HUGE favor and invest the $20 or so in a RadioShack 800Mhz antenna. It'll make a world of difference for you. There are better, more expensive 800 band antennas out there (I have one), but the RS is a pretty respectable antenna in it's own right.

Here it is: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2102525

This: http://www.radio-ware.com/products/sek800.htm is what I have in addition to my RS antennas. It was $40 back when I bought mine, but well worth it in my opinion. It's top heavy and as big as a telephone pole when you put it on a handheld scanner, so it's not ideal for mobile use, but it works great around the house.
