Can anyone confirm what freqs are in use for FHP on I-75 from the end of the turnpike to the GA border? I'm making a run up there next week and wanted to know if I should still pack the VHF channels into a radio.

Also if they are still on VHF, what channels should I be on along the route.

I've heard that most if not all of the LE activities have migrated to Ma/Comm up there. While not confirmed personally, the info is from a good source.

The Jacksonville, Tampa, and Ft. Myers regions, Phase II & Phase III of the FLSLERS is active for all FHP units in this area. (FLSLERS is a EDACS 100% Pro-Voice 128bit DES Encrypted all talkgroups system, also employs the weak ESK feature.)

Activity on the VHF channels for dispatch has ceased. VHF channels have been removed from the consoles except for InterCity and the old Channel 4 Emergency channel, which are also not actively monitored by dispatch.

Unfortunately most of this equipment is old Motorola Micor units which have been woefully disrespected and unmaintained over the years. Some patrol units may still have the old 4 channel Micor radios in the cars, and may use the channels for chit chat but thats about it. The Jax, Tampa, and Ft. Myers comm centers can not hear the old dispatch channels.
