I thought I understood the location feature of the SDS100. Then I wanted to monitor FP&L during the hurricane today.
I have my location set with a range of 0. When I scan the FP&L System via the full database (not a FL) it is scanning the entire state and it takes a while to do so.
I looked in Sentinel and see the attached. I then went to db on RR and I can't see the System there. I wanted to look at the site and see what it was set up like but I can't find it.
Any idea why it is scanning through all?
Any idea where I can find it on RR to look at the map for each site?1728505716121.png

With a range of 0, anything in the database that overlaps the zip code entered, all that stuff will try to scan. That of course is based on what service types are enabled.

Go into your service types and turn off what ever FP&L is not listed with.

I don't understand the Service Types comment. I still want to listen to other service types not related to FP&L. FP&L is Utilities service type.
It doesn't make sense that it is scanning ALL the FP&L Departments/Sites unless those items somehow have super huge ranges in the RR database and it thinks it is overlapping incorrectly. Or is FP&L setup this way in the RR db?

Looks like a bunch of the sites on the system list a range of 220 miles which makes those sites overlap your location.

And some departments will overlap your location.

You can avoid them and or edit their rages on sentinel and write back to the scanner.

Thanks. That's the piece I was missing. The range or location is not visible in Sentinel. I don't think scanning the full database in Sentinel allows one to change ranges. I guess I need to make it a FL and modify it there.
Any idea where in RR I can see the range? I cannot find it. I also don't see it in Sentinel.

@ProScan software lets users modify the full database. Fp and l will be busy for a while. I am not familiar with the layout of the system but if you are and determine proper ranges for sites and departments, make a submission to the db and it can be changed. A few depts may be system wide but I don’t believe all those sites set for 220 should be. Could be wrong.

In the meantime you should be able to do a site hold, and scroll thru each site and set the ones without any reception or nowhere near you to avoid.
