Moved to St Johns Co in April from Burlington Co, NJ just as the 800 system came on line. Been tracking that system and submitting the updates. Am a retired Fire Chief so my main interest lies there, along with milair. Live in a HOA area, but will try and get some antennas up shortly.

Welcome aboard to Mitch & JHouse55. It may not be the busiest state forum here, but I bet we have some of the nicest folk on here always willing to lend a hand.

Let us know if there is anything we can do to help out.

Best regards --... ...--

Uniden Trunk Tracker BCT8
GRECOM Multitrunking PSR-400
RS Pro-107 iScan
I dont trust anyone around here to program them for me and the Pro107 is dummy proof, but i went to update it through the software and now it is bricked.

Welcome to sunny Florida (for now). Broadcastify and other streaming sites help out in times like this and glad they are there. Lots to hear in your new area including an active bombing and strafing site to the south of you called Avon Park. They are busy at least once or twice a week and you might be able to hear both sides of the comms if you decide to put up an outdoor antenna.....that assumes you get a new radio with the UHF aero-band.

Best of luck & welcome Gilly.

I've been living in Ocala, FL for the last 2 years or so but was out of scanning since 2008. I had to sell all mine due to unfortunate circumstamces. I'm happy to say that I just got me a BCD396XT and am now monitoring Ocala FL and Marion County. I'm also considering getting a few more scanners ASAP.

Welcome Back

Welcome back to the world of radios. A lot has changed since 2008, and lately, things are changing every year. In my opinion, you picked a great radio to get back in the hobby. There is so much to choose from now-a-days that we can get almost exactly what we want in a radio and click "order". :)

Dont forget about the various software (programs) designed for your scanner.....some free and some with a reasonable charge. I mainly use my 396XT and I am very happy with it. There is not much I can't pick up with a few exceptions like Florida Highway Patrol and other networks that are encrypted.

Best of luck to you.

Yes you are correct a lot has changed. Some good and some bad. I use the Butel software like I had previously. It was a sad day for me when I had to sell my Pro-96, Pro-2096, BR330T, BCD396T and BCD996T but I'm slowly going to build it back up. I am happy with my first choice because nothing is Phase 2 around me just yet. I assume by what I've read so far and what you just mentioned we will never be monitoring FHP.

Just moved to Citrus County. Am interested in among other things, forest rangers (found some good info on wiki), and DNR or fish and wildlife officers. Not finding much of anything on them. I'm guessing there are both state and federal agencies that enforce fish and wildlife laws here? Can anybody help with this?

Hello all! I'm Ryan from Boynton Beach. I monitor just about everything I can pick up, analog and digital. Mostly the fire/police and ham bands every now and then. I also do some ADS-B flight tracking.

My scanner is a Windows 7 PC running 2 RTL-SDR USB dongles with various receiving and decoding software.

Hello I am Thomas Byrd from southern Lake County. I monitor the school bus radio, EMS reports to south lake hospital, the VHF patch for fire & EMS within the county, and the ORMC Air Care dispatch.

Hey, I'm Aaron from Broward Country. I monitor mostly Police Departments and Fire Departments throughout the southern counties. I have my BCD996XT programmed to pick up radio chatter from Palm Beach down to Miami-Dade. I'm pretty new to scanning but it's a great skill and hobby to learn. My programming is still sort of clunky but I'm slowly getting the hang of it.

Hi All

I finally retired from a job that required extensive travel nationwide for assignments which depending on the situation could have me relocated for several months up to some years time, right now I'm revisiting some of the sites that have fared well meeting old acquaintances & friends, Florida seems peaceful enough & I just might put down stakes here, thanks for listening, oh I forgot, if it travels on rails I monitor it.
