The SDS series scanners handle simulcast very well. Farmers Branch is on the Metrocrest Quad Cities system, which is simulcast.

Unfortunately, the dispatch channels for the PDs in Farmers Branch & the other cities on the same system are encrypted, so no matter what scanner you have, you would not be able to listen. Fire is not encrypted, and there are some other DFW Metro areas that are not encrypted, but your home town is.
