The rural departments in the county have elected to start training with the Indiana Safe-T radio system in February. Beginning in March, Departments will still be dispatched on VHF but will be operating on the 800mhz system. Department will be utilizing the digital side of this system with each department responding on on the dispatch channel then switching to a operations channel. Until the sheriffs offices completes its renovations and upgrades to the dispatch office and equipment departments will be only operating on the dispatch channel. This is only a preliminary plan and can change at anytime
you can find the live audio feed from Floyd County at www.ltvfd.org or in the live audio feed here on radioreference.com

It's OFFICIAL. Rural Departments; Lafayette Township Fire Protection District, Georgetown Township Fire Protection District, and Greenville Township Volunteer Fire Department will go full time on Indiana's 800 MHZ SAFE-T system On July 1st 2013.
Departments will still be dispatched on the VHF frequency. After they are dispatched they will respond on The Floyd County Dispatch SAFE-T channel and stay there unless assigned to switch to their respective frequencies. LTFPD Ops-1, GTFPD Ops-2, Greenville Ops-3 and New Chapel Fire Co. Ops-4. Command staff will mainly operate on these frequencies while crews operate on fire ground channels not on the SAFE-T system but radio to radio.
