When doing a Digital Frequency Search (Digital Frequency Search) this morning, came upon a finding of DMR frequencies assigned to Floyd County. There were two call signs listed:

WQBZ256 – Floyd County (ULS License - Public Safety Pool, Conventional License - WQBZ256 - FLOYD, COUNTY OF)

WRCG295 – Floyd County Public Schools (ULS License - Industrial/Business Pool, Conventional License - WRCG295 - FLOYD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS)

Both are contracted through Professional Communications Systems, LLC out of Blacksburg, Virginia.

After a small search, found a site called Gov Tribe (govtribe.com). On it was a “Request for Proposal (RFP) for the replacement of their existing UHF analog radio system for Floyd County dated 4/2/2024 initially “Floyd County had issued the Request for Proposal (RFP) for the purpose of obtaining responsive proposals from qualified firms to provide and install a UHF DMR Simulcast Radio System that is P25 capable located in Floyd County, VA” back on 2/6/2024”. (Floyd County UHF Analog Radio System Replacement)

Similar to Craig County radio system assessment back in April of 2021 (https://craigcountyva.gov/wp-conten...unty-Final-Radio-System-Assessment-Report.pdf).

Just wondering if anyone had any information on this on-going process. I pick up the county quite a bit driving between the areas.

Probably will have Kenwood subscribers as there are versions that can be configured to operate on both DMR and P25. I assume the P25 requirement is for interoperability with neighboring jurisdictions.
