Here's a recording I captured today between Norcal Approach ATC and a flight of two F16s requesting, and eventually receiving clearance to fly over the State Capital at the request of the Governor's Office for a dedication ceremony. I caught the traffic in realtime, but not intime to get out and videotape it. The radio traffic is kinda cool though. Quervo 1 was the calsign of the lead F16. It sounded like the same pilot who was at the last Cal Cap Airshow. I've heard him before, but can't quite say where. Flyby was scheduled at 1510, but the delay you'll hear in the recording caused it to happen nearer to 1530. I heard the planes fly over my house, but at the time, I hadn't found out where they were going.

Any Ideas on what was being dedicated at the Capital? Hope you enjoy.

That was a great recording.

It was a parade from Crocker Park to the Capitol to mark the 20th anniversary of the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial. According to the info in my news planner the flyover was scheduled for 13:10.

Thanks for the help.

Hey Scannerboy, I knew you'd know what was up. I've been so busy with work to poke my head around. It always seems I'm taken by surprise with all the cool things going on downtown. You were right, the flyover was supposed to be at 3:10, but somebody dripped the ball and the pilots and ATC had to "work it out' with higher-ups for the clearance. I bet that event was something to see. I'd have been there. Glad you liked the recording. Thanks again.
