All I want to do is listen to the commercial radio band, and remotely tune the radio from a computer. Any Ideas?

There might be some high end entertainment receivers with computer control.

There are also FM receiver cards for your computer.

Tuner card

Just do an ebay search for "pc tuner card" you should get plenty of hits. They actually have HDTV tuner cards for $99 (can't vouch for them though). My pc came with FM/TV tuner card installed, which works reasonably well, and gives you some TIVO like functionality. Lot's of cards out there if not most, will do FM radio and TV as well, for little money.

FYI I just did the search, and I saw cards with tv and FM for as little as $15 buy it now price.

Good Luck,

tv/fm tuner cards are always going to get low quality reception. if you really want something with good reception, use an external tv/fm tuner for the computer (such as one on USB or Firewire/IEEE1394).

the reason internal cards aren't as good, is because the RF environment inside your computer is especially harsh. You'll get reception, (maybe even great reception if you're quite close to the xmtr) but it won't be as good as an external tuner.

FM Commerical Radio is Land Mobile Radio. Are you talking about FM Broadcast band.??

Although not a formal definition, FM Commercial most often refers to Broadcast.

Yes, the Part-90 band is often called the Commercial/Industrial band.

Hmm, seems like just another confusing term!
