FM interference

Seems that whenever I set SDR Sharp to search a band of frequencies ( doesn't seem to matter which end of the radio spectrum I am scanning ) I get strong FM signal that will lock up the scanning. If I where to lockout the unwanted frequecies there would be nothing to scan as they would all be locked out. What I need to know is can this be eliminated. I have an rtl 820t2 dongle.

I should clarify that these signal are from commercial FM radio broadcast towers.

Are you talking about commercial broadcasters in the 88 - 108 Mhz range? If you are I'd suggest an FM trap filter. VHF-FM Broadcast Filters | PAR Electronics | Filters for the commercial 2 way market, MATV, FM broadcast, laboratory, marine industry, amateur radio, scanner and short wave listening enthusiasts There are others besides PAR, search on Google.

Yes 88 to 108 is what i am referring to, so an FM trap is what I need, I will google it, thanks.

RadioShack sold them, and there might still be a few around.
