I would buy this software .

Currently I use a second monitor for my Perseus radio so that I can have a full screen view.

Wonder when it will be available and the cost.

Yep we're waiting for it to come out as well. I hope they release a demo or trial version to test out. If it works well, then I'll buy it.

So, I've looked at that page twice now and still really don't understand what "Studio 1" is supposed to be. Help me out here, is it alternative software for the Perseus? Is it hardware? Is it a combination of both, or? What have I missed that has you guys so interested?

Yes, it's 3rd party software that will work with SDR-IQ, Perseus and supported receivers. It will not work with the Excalibur.

The ELAD-FM1 is a SDR that Woodbox is releasing along with Studio1. It has similar specs to the SDR-IQ. Studio1 itself is a separate application. It'll cost X dollars for one year license -- which includes monthly fixes and TBD features that will be added in time. I haven't heard the pricing yet. I presume it'll be launched some time this month.

Nick, my interest was piqued after your statement about it working with the SDR-IQ.

I'm not 100% sure about this... I just sent a reply back to the Studio1 developer to ask him if this is correct. This is what he said in a reply back to the Perseus Yahoo group last month. I think some people inferred this to mean it will work with the SDR-IQ.

Hello Paul, I can answer some of your questions (I can only speak as Studio 1
developer):

>Will it have offset calculations for receiver IF or downconverters?

Yes, Studio 1 will offer 4 main tuning mode plus offsets:

Mode 1 - the SDR hardware has its own settable LO (Perseus, SDR-14 etc.)
Mode 2 – the SDR hardware has a fixed LO (old softrocks, self made SDR, IF
adapters etc.)
Mode 3 – same as mode 1 but for IF use (tuning messages are sent via CAT to the
radio in front of the system)
Mode 4 – same as mode 2 but for IF use (see mode 3)
In addition there are 4 fully configurable selectable offset settings.

>Will Studio 1 also support CAT and for which radios?

Yes, Studio 1 will support CAT, initially the Icom CI-V protocol; more will
follow.

>Will Studio 1 be sold as a package with the new Elad SDR?
Bundles, if any, will be offered by the distributors at proper time.

>Will any of the two support client-server operation?

Studio 1 initially will not offer client-server operation but this is planned.

>Will Studio 1 also integrate with Tmate?

Yes, Studio 1 will integrate with Tmate from the first release.

Please note that the purchase of a Studio 1 licence will give access to one year
of free updates.
Monthly updates are planned.

Full details about Studio 1 will be issued soon.

Best regards

Good news for SDR-IQ Owners!

Just received an email back from the developer of the Studio1 software.

Hello Nick,
yes Studio 1 will support SDR-IQ and virtually every other SDR receiver available via EXTIO.dll (same as Winrad and derivatives) and another proprietary library format.

Best regards
Sandro

Excellent news! Glad to see it confirmed for SDR-IQ use :)
Now we just wait for price. Hopefully it's reasonable...
