I had a camera with me at work the other day and I thought those who track ACARS messages might be interested in seeing the system in action....so I took this short movie to show what an ACARS ATIS request looks like in the plane.

lol...no scanner in the cockpit, already enough radios in there to keep track of....maybe an Ipod or laptop sometimes(so I'v herd ) but no scanners.

The airplane that day was an EMB-145. I got the idea to take the videos as I wanted to recored one to show family that "Area 51" is in FMS nav databases, but I didn't have the nerve to post that one on the internet!
