Currently utilizing a 996XT and a RS Pro-197. Reception is somewhat bad with the simulcast issue. I have a Yagi antenna aimed at one Va. Beach site, but still not that great. Plus it ties up one scanner for only Va. Beach.

Thinking of (actually want one) one of the newer scanners.

My question is: For those who had spotty reception listening to Va. Beach on one of the above radios, and who switched up to the newer scanners, was there an improvement in reception in Va. Beach?

Also, is there anyone in the area (Oceanfront/North end) that would kindly let me hook up one of the newer scanners to my antenna, to see if there is an improvement.

Thanks

I have a 436, and ever since Uniden came out with the digital improvement upgrade, my reception for VA Beach has increased, yes from Portsmouth I can get VA Beach indoors with an RS-800 Mhz antenna, before the upgrade I was lucky to get bits and pieces, now I can actually get them all the time
