I haven't heard NXDN on the freight systems. I have heard the LA Metro Commuter lines use it daily.

I was thinking of trying to grab some photos when it passes thru the Cajon pass.

Have you seen this map ?

If you subscribe to the twitter feed listed on that page, the location is updated quite frequently when they're on the move.

There's the Railroad Radio site. Think of it as a "railroad version" of Broadcastify.
(They even offer a "Realplayer" stream !)

Good luck !

So the closest it will get is Bloomington, Calif., in the San Benardino area?

From Bloomington, it will probably head into Union Station. The UP websites all list the destination as "Greater LA". I am guessing they are not showing the route into LA on purpose.

I'll be chasing Saturday and riding Sunday. 146.520 simplex, no tones.

Maybe it'll help if ARRL has a WAT* award.
