Just heard on my scanner a forest fire call for McCormick Fire Dept. of troy, mt. I believe. Dispatch said the fire is threatening houses. Damn early for those fires. Hmmm
Libby fire dept had a grass fire earlier today south of town that involved some small trees. Might be an active fire season if things start heating up.

Hmmm, forest service personell said everything is fine where they are at and that they are going to talk to the land owner. They would call back if they need assistance. McCormick fire dept must have gotten the fire out by the time the forest service arrived.

Yes, quite familiar with remote Links

The UHF is using to Downlink back to a base/dispatch from a site that they can't LandLine the control to, they also can UHF Uplink (different Freq) as well.

Generally the Link is for One VHF Freq per UHF PL
they can do multiple PL's to activate different sites/freqs

So...wondering what the PL was on the UHF and then also which Freq it was downlinking from

Here's about the best explanation about uhf link repeaters. http://www.nifc.gov/nicc/administrative/nmac/correspond/CommandTacticalRepeaters.pdf

It's not satellite downlink if that's what your thinking. Generally they just call them forest service uhf link repeater systems. I think it's just the uhf side of their VHF repeaters.

I set my scanner on search and store to scan the usfs uhf repeaters 406.225 mhz & 406.525 mhz to get any pl tones transmitted. I hear stations all around lincoln county on the uhf repeaters with different pl tones. I believe 123.0 is dispatch or they might be CSQ. I'm going to let it run for a day and see what I get.
The input freq's are 415.225 & 415.525.
