Is anyone aware of any forest fires going on in the Camden/Burlington/Atlantic County area tonight? I smelled a strong odor of smoke along the WHP in Atco, and I have heard reports of other people smelling smoke in the Berlin/Voorhees area, but have heard nothing about an actual brush fire.

Oh wow. I guess I've been real out of the loop the past two days. No scanner yesterday after three. Today, just between 10 and 11, then of course now. Funny, I didn't smell smoke last night or anytime today until around sixish. About an hour ago I did hear an Atlantic county tanker (District 10 I believe) being dispatched to 206, though I am not sure where, for a tanker assignment. There must have been a flare up. Well, at least so far its in an area where it does not endanger homes/businesses.

Near containment

Fire now about 70% contained. Forcast is rain overnight and tomorrow morning. Rte 206 was closed between Rte 536 and Rt 30. Not sure if the detours are still in effect though. Currently no homes or businesses threatened. Anyone else hear anything? Today, I had both the Burlington co West TRS and the NJ forestry service on radio, but heard nothing about the fire.

Just got back from the fire. (Monday morning) Its at 70% containemt and just under 2500 acres. Early this morning we received 1.16" of rain. Still some smokers and hot spots but I'd say this one is pretty much history. RT 206 was open all through Sunday and today.

I'm glad its out. Thats where I go dirt bike riding all the time. I was watching the black hawks getting water out of Atsion lake while monitoring them. Those things are cool!

South Jersey has been very dry for weeks now. With the exception of an occasional thunderstorm its been dry down here since the last fire in May. That fire was much bigger than this one. We need rain.

Thank goodness the fire is out!!! At least it rained last night!! {:>D It SEEMS as if it has rained a lot this year, but all of the rain had come at once and then it doesnt rain for at least another two weeks. In between the sun has been strong and despite the humidity as of late, the dewpoints have been relatively low.

The fire is not out. Its 100% contained. It may not be declared out for weeks or sometimes months. Even after the inch of rain last night, there were some areas still smoking pretty good.
